The stories, memories, journals and other writings in this blog are an accumulation of 14 years of being a member of the Creative Writing Group of the Biblioteque Anglais de Meyal (BAM) in Southwest France. They are arranged by date of creation or in the different type of writings as listed in the menus above. I’ll be posting my new stories each week. They are all listed under the menu options at top of the page. For more information on the writing process read the tabs :Background to the Creative Writing Group; and Why Am I Here
While my writings encompass decades, this site is just at it’s beginnings here in early 2021, so please understand that it is an ongoing effort. Over time, more of my old stories will be added along with the new. Check the “Latest Updates” tab in this section for the newest additions and the tab under which they are located.
The Vault; Most of my fiction short stories were written during sessions of the Writing Group. They are posted under this tab listed by year unless more suited to one of the other categories. The stories are posted along with the writing challenge, or trigger we were given at the beginning of each writing session.
The more personal stories are listed under “Observations” as either Memory stories, Journal entries, or Essays. “Commentary” includes Rants and Current Affairs.
Jack Driscol Mysteries: Jack Driscol is a fictional detective who grew out of a story in 2010 and I have produced episodes periodically since. I am currently in the midst of writing a new Jack Driscol novel, The Ex Affair and am posting chapters as they come to life.
Transcendence Sci fi novels also began as a story called “Fred and Ginger” which I have posted on the main Transcendence menu page . From that story are two sci fi novels which I will post chapters in grouping at a time.
Lastly there are Odds and Ends of quotes, books or learnings that have meant something to me and links to other sites which I have found personally interesting.
A note about my Logo, Chanteclair – the Rooster – singing out loud and clear. It symbolizes my effort to tell stories and make a point or two about life as I see it or imagine it. But further, it denotes a personal connection to my life and where I live. The rooster is the symbol of France, my mother’s, and now my own, country. Second, it was the name of my Normandy fisherman Grandfather’s boat, a hundred years ago. Third, it is the title of a popular fable written by playwright Edmond de Rostand, the author of Cyrano de Bergerac, the town only 20 miles from where I live. Fourth, it is the name of my 200+ year old stone house here in the Dordogne countryside.
These writings are all creations from my mind, most written during sessions with the Creative Writing Group of the Biblioteque Anglais de Meyral (the English Library at Meyral) . They are shared with you hoping that you enjoy reading them as much as I have enjoyed conjuring them.
